So many outstanding, detailed attributes seen within this exceptional early Chinese Mud Man Sculpture Statue Figural, Legend of the Eight Immortals w/a hollowed open base. Hence, the figural is not a solid core but has a cavity, typical for older Mud Men figurals. This is how early mud men were held during the exterior colors/ glaze were applied by hand. Gorgeous, superb quality carving and finely detailed throughout; dated mid-late 1800's.
7"tall x 3"wide & 2 deep. The bottom of the figure is not marked, however well agedw/natural clay patina. CONDITION: in great condition for its age, overall. There is a small area confined to bottom of hat that appears to have suffered a little loss, probably from falling over, yet no breaks can be found in the neck region, front nor sides.
We see a few other minor flakes to hat rim from front view.. Are inconsequential & commensurate for age.
Carved wood round base is included; all are a bit dusty & in need of a light clean. Detailed photos have been included.. Please review all as they are inclusive of deacription herein.
