A very unusual Antique Chinese Clay Mud Man or Mudman Figurine because it depicts one of the Eight Chinese Taoist Immortals, the Lame Beggar, Li T'ieh-kuai, holding his attribute, the Double Gourd. This figurine uses an unusual heavy white glaze for his beggar's robe, while the mud pottery is a lighter, finer grain material. Incredible detail in the face, beard and feet. A larger Mud man, this figure stand just over 10 tall.
Very good to excellent condition, there are two defects that appear to have happened during the original manufacturing of the piece. There is a small chip on the underside of the base as well as a crack inside the mold that does not migrate to the outside.
